Join us for upcoming events that celebrate the beauty and inspiration of The Saint John’s Bible.


On October 13, 2017, 7:30 p.m., Hubble Space Telescope astrophysicist, Anton M. Koekemoer, presents the first in the 2017-2018 Lectures in Catholic Experience series: Science and Faith in Harmony: “The Heavens Declare the Glory of God.” Koekemoer will present the latest astronomical highlights, including images from the Hubble Space Telescope, that were used to inspire some of the beautiful illuminations in The Saint John’s Bible. Complimentary tickets are available, but please register in advance.


Koekemoer is followed in the series by Lisa Fagin Davis (November 17: Writing The Bible: From 7th Century Northumberland to 21st Century Minnesota) and Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB (December 8: The Artist as Preacher: Sacred Art and the Eye of the Beholder).

Join us every Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. as a member of the St. Jerome's University community turns the pages of the Heritage Volume, Gospels and Acts to a new beautiful passage or illumination. Taking place in the Atrium of the Academic Centre; a small ceremony and reading proceeds the page turning.

On site display: November 13-17, 2017
St. Jerome’s University will host an exhibit of manuscripts from the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies (PIMS) of St. Michael’s College, Toronto. Visit the exhibit in the Academic Centre (SJ2) Atrium.

Messiah Concert with Saint John’s Bible Illuminations

Messiah is always a beloved Christmas tradition. But this year, it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the ears! Along with the timeless beauty of Handel’s music presented by the Grand Philharmonic Choir, you will see breathtaking images of hand-crafted illuminations from The Saint John’s Bible. A pre-concert presentation by Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB (“The Challenge of Making the Word of God Come Alive on a Page”) is also featured at this event, which takes place at Centre in the Square, Kitchener and tickets are available through the box office.


All seven volumes of The Saint John’s Bible, will also be on display, courtesy of the Diocese of Hamilton.
