Move In - Out Dates
At St. Jerome’s University, we house students in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms. Our Spring move-in day will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Saturday, August 31, 2024 Move-In
Date and time:

Move-in day for spring term is Saturday August 31, 2024

Move- In Day Schedule

9:00AM-12:00PM ---- First Move-In Period (Last name A – M)

1:00 PM- 4:00PM ---- Second Move-In Period (Last name N – Z)

Move-In Process:

Once you arrive at SJU, there will be Student Affairs Staff, and Upper Year Students waiting to direct your vehicle to your designated loading zone and parking area. Student Leaders will be available to help you carry your things to your room (though you are welcome to bring helping hands as well). A Don will be on your floor to greet you and check you into your room.

Families and caregivers should plan to attend a residence information session and send-off, and students should be prepared for an evening of fun and informative events!

Meal plan:

The Meal plan will begin with dinner on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Early Move-In

Early move-ins are only accommodated in extenuating circumstances such as out of province travel, varsity athlete training, or student leader training. Due to building use and maintenance requirements, the earliest move-in St. Jerome’s can accommodate is August 28, 2024. No exceptions.

If you are arriving in advance of this date you will need to find alternative accommodations and St. Jerome’s will not be able to support this.

All early move-in requests must be submit using the ‘Early Move-In Request Form’ on eRez life. The deadline to request an early move-in for fall 2024 is August 11, 2024.

Travelling to Campus

Locating St. Jerome’s:

Address

290 Westmount Rd North,

Waterloo, ON, Canada

 N2L 3G3

St. Jerome's Residence can be accessed only from a driveway off Westmount Rd. North (you can't access SJU from the University of Waterloo Ring Rd.). Free parking is available on site during the day.

Should you be arriving with a trailer, please make advanced arrangements with the Residence Team as our laneway and turnaround areas are very limited.

Meal Suggestions:

Unfortunately, it is a very busy day in the SJU kitchen, and we are not able to accommodate additional guests.

You might want to enjoy a meal with your student either before or after move-in. Waterloo Region has compiled a list of local restaurants and restaurants in University Shops Plaza are very close by.

Note: SJU Residence team will host a mandatory move-in meeting on Saturday August 31, 2024 at 8PM.

Residence Move-Out
When to Move Out
  • At the end of each term, you have 24 hours following your final exam or take-home assignment to move-out. In the case that you do not have finals, you will have 24 hours following the last day of class.

  • If you are living at SJU while on a co-op work term you will be expected to move-out upon completing your co-op term or when residence closes, whichever comes first.

How to Move Out

Students moving out of residence must take all belongings with them. This includes situations where a student will return to residence after a term away.

These are the following steps to move-out:

  1. Inform residence don of the date you will be moving out (according to stipulations above)

  1. Schedule a time for residence don to do to the room checkout form with you.

  • You and the don will check room for any damage, missing items, etc.
  1. Return fob to residence don upon check-out.

Note: the check-out process and returning your residence fob is mandatory. There will be a $150 charge if you do not complete the checkout process, and a $50 charge for any unreturned fob.

Residence Storage
  • If you are living at SJU for two consecutive terms you will be able to leave your belongings at SJU.

  • If you are living at SJU, and will move away for one term before returning, SJU will NOT store your belongings.

While it may be 'goodbye' from living in residence, you are a part of the SJU community, and are always welcome to remain involved and engaged as an Off-Campus Housing student!

The Upper Year Handbook is a resource for you, compiled by students who've been where you are now and where you are headed. We get it, this time is all at once nerve-wracking, new, and exciting; and we want to offer you the best advice we can from the experiences we've had.
