Mike Gourlay

Mike Gourlay is the Chief Financial Officer at St. Jerome’s University, responsible for ensuring the current and long-term effectiveness of financial functions of the institution including: accounting, asset and debt management,  financial statements, insurance, risk and safety management, operating and capital budgeting, long-term projections, cash flow management, administrative information systems, procurement, and audit. As a member of the senior leadership team, Mike is also accountable for the planning, development and management of the University’s non-academic operations and support services including Human Resources, Facility Operations, Information Technology and Systems and Ancillary Operations.

 

Prior to joining St. Jerome’s University, Mike was a senior leader on the Financial Affairs team at McMaster University and had responsibility for managing the institution’s third-party relationships with nearly 70 affiliates & associations. During his time at McMaster, Mike progressed the University’s business development portfolio, moving the institution forward on research commercialization space development and business valuation deals. He was also instrumental in moving ahead two public-private partnerships to build an on-campus undergraduate residence and a graduate residence to be located in downtown Hamilton.

 

Mike received his Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration from McMaster University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA).

 

Outside of St. Jerome’s, Mike is a current board director with the Guelph Community Foundation and has served on a variety of other volunteer boards and committees.
