OMNI Expands Access to Library Service
St. Jerome’s University’s (SJU) Library now provides access to the collections of 16 Ontario universities, further to the launch of the second phase of the Omni project.
Since 2019, the Omni catalogue, an online academic search tool, has been used to search and access collections at SJU, and at long-term partner institutions University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the University of Guelph. Users will now be able to search the collections of all 16 partner universities across the province, and place a request for physical items directly in Omni using the “Get It From Another Library” request form. These items will be delivered free of charge to the Dana Porter Library on the University of Waterloo campus.
“This service greatly expands the number and breadth of resources that are available to our users,” noted SJU Librarian, Lorna Rourke. “Omni provides fast, convenient access to the collections of 16 university Libraries and almost 23.5 million items.”
Delivery times may vary (anticipated to be 7-10 business days on average while COVID-19 restrictions are in place) and the borrowing time will remain a full 120-day loan period. Users will be notified when their item(s) is ready for pick up.
