Faculty Recognized for Distinguished Awards

St. Jerome’s University faculty members Dr. Steven Bednarski (History), Dr. Norm Klassen (English), Dr. Whitney Lackenbauer (History), and Dr. Chad Wriglesworth (English) were recognized this week at the University of Waterloo’s President’s Reception for Excellence in Teaching and Research. The annual event honours faculty and graduate students who have received awards for research and teaching excellence this past year. Speaking to the award winners, University of Waterloo President and Vice-Chancellor Feridun Hamdullahpur stated, “Your work is a continuous reminder to the world that Waterloo is home to innovators who have an unwavering desire for research and teaching. You are shaping the future and the minds of our devoted students.”
 
St. Jerome’s University is federated with the University of Waterloo and all St. Jerome’s faculty members hold faculty status at Waterloo. The St. Jerome’s University community is proud to celebrate our faculty successes along with our colleagues at the University of Waterloo.
 
This past year, Bednarski received the 2017 D2L Innovation Award in Teaching from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Klassen, recipient of the Federation of Students Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award; Lackenbauer, recognized for his research work as the Killam Visiting Scholar, Killiam Trusts/Canada Council for the Arts. Wriglesworth was also a recipient of the Federation of Students Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award.  Both Klassen and Wriglesworth were also recipients of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance Teaching Excellence Award.
