Position Profile

Reporting to the President and Vice Chancellor, and as a member of St. Jerome’s University’s executive team, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, provides strategic direction and leadership to the University Operations including Facilities, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Ancillary Operations, and the Information Technology and Systems department.

As the University’s senior administrative officer, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration will provide strategic counsel and advice to the President and Board of Governors, and will work closely with the Vice President Academic and Dean, governments, corporate partners, and community leaders. This individual will attend board meetings on a consistent basis and is the primary executive liaison to the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board of Governors.

Responsible for a $19M annual operating budget, this position plays a significant role in the fulfilment of the University’s vision and mission, and the achievement of its goals.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), and an experienced leader with demonstrated knowledge of financial, human resources, facilities, and information technology functions within a complex organization. With experience in policy development and implementation, a consultative style of management, and a successful track record of achieving administrative, financial, and service excellence, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, will be an accomplished and results-focused team builder and leader with superb communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The capacity to understand and work effectively within the culture of a unionized academic institution, to liaise with diverse internal and external groups, and to lead a staff of dedicated professionals will be essential.
