Hi readers! Welcome to the St. Jerome’s University (SJU) Experience Blog!

 

My name is Janneke, and I will be working closely with the SJU Student Affairs team as the Outreach and Recruitment co-op student throughout this semester. I will be organizing SJU tours, planning our Fall Open House (Saturday, Nov. 2nd), and communicating with prospective students- that includes updating this blog! I am in my third year as an SJU and Waterloo student, and this will be my second co-op term. My program is Honours Arts and Business, and I study Visual Culture, Psychology, and Cultural Identities. 

I’m so excited to be sharing stories, student experiences, and other interesting info about SJU with you this semester! Deciding which universities to apply to is an important step to complete in your educational path. A few years ago, I was in the same place. I can understand how challenging this decision is, especially with so many intriguing options!

 

I’ve found that hearing details from current students is very useful at this stage. That’s something I will strive to incorporate into this blog over the next few months! After all, this blog is written specifically for our future students, by current students, who have been inspired by our past students. 

 

I look forward to writing about the SJU student leaders who are here to support you in so many ways! Our people are what make the community here so welcoming and supportive, and our students contribute significantly to the creation of that feeling. This semester, I will post new content on the blog on Wednesdays and Fridays.

 

Friday posts will focus on our many student leadership positions at SJU. Wednesday’s posts will highlight content that defines what SJU represents: the community, the support, the emphasis on social justice, and the opportunities for personal development that add so much more value to your degree. 

 

Hopefully, this blog will help you decide if our wonderful community sounds like your perfect home away from home!
