8. UW Committees with St. Jerome's Representation

Following is a list of UW committees that have a representative from St. Jerome’s or from among all the Federate and Affiliates that is either elected or appointed by the President or the Vice-President and Academic Dean. UW committees with St. Jerome’s representation by virtue of position are not included.

8.1 Arts Admissions Committee: The St. Jerome’s Registrar and one (1) faculty member who is responsible for St. Jerome’s applicants and who also sits as a full member of the Committee. Appointed by the Vice-President and Academic Dean. No definite term.

8.2 Math Admissions Committee: The St. Jerome’s Registrar and one (1) faculty member who is responsible for St. Jerome’s applicants and who also sits as a full member of the Committee. Appointed by the Vice-President and Academic Dean. No definite term.

8.3 General Group: Chairs of all UW Arts Faculty departments and on which St. Jerome’s has one (1) representative who is either the Vice-President and Academic Dean or his/her appointee. No definite term.

8.4 Examinations and Standings Committee (E & S) (Arts Faculty): This Committee is concerned with student appeals both concerning courses and final grades. Membership is drawn from the departments in the Arts Faculty and St. Jerome’s has one (1) member who is appointed by the Vice-President and Academic Dean. No definite term.

8.5 Standings and Promotions Committee (S & P) (Math Faculty): This Committee is concerned with student appeals both concerning courses and final exams. Membership is drawn from each of the departments in the Math Faculty and St. Jerome’s has one (1) member who is appointed by the Vice-President and Academic Dean. No definite term.

8.6 Undergraduate Affairs Group (UGAG) (Arts Faculty): UGAG is the initial review body for the Arts Faculty on academic matters. St. Jerome’s has one (1) faculty representative appointed by the Vice-President and Academic Dean. No definite term.

8.7 Arts Faculty Executive: Arts Faculty Executive is the steering committee for Arts Faculty Council. The Federate and Affiliates have one (1) seat on Arts Faculty Executive and that seat is filled by means of an election conducted amongst full-time faculty from the Federate and Affiliates. Three (3) year term.

8.8 Undergraduate Operations Committee: This Committee consists of the UW Registrar, the Associate Deans from each of the UW faculties, and the Vice-President and Academic Dean of St. Jerome’s or his/her appointee. It is concerned with academic matters at the undergraduate level, for example admission policy, calendar copy, and the like.

8.9 Senate Undergraduate Council: This Committee consists of representation from each of the UW faculties and from the Federate and Affiliates. Its responsibilities consist chiefly in academic matters at the undergraduate level. St. Jerome’s membership consists of the Vice-President and Academic Dean, who is an ex-officio member, and one (1) faculty member elected from amongst the Federate and Affiliates. Two (2) year term.

8.10 Senate: Senate is the ultimate interfaculty elective body for University affairs. St. Jerome’s President is an ex officio member and there are three (3) other members of faculty at St. Jerome’s who are elected annually to Senate seats by St. Jerome’s faculty in an election conducted by the Steering Committee of College Council. Three (3) year renewable term.

8.11 Senate Executive: A Senate sub-committee which has one (1) faculty member from amongst the Federate and Affiliates, usually selected from amongst the Heads.

8.12 Senate Honorary Degrees Committee: A Senate sub-committee which has one (1) faculty member from amongst the Federate and Affiliates, usually selected from amongst the Heads.

8.13 Senate Honorary Members Committee: A Senate sub-committee which has one (1) faculty member from amongst the Federate and Affiliates, usually selected from amongst the Heads.

8.14 Senate Finance Committee: includes one (1) faculty member from the Federate and Affiliates, usually selected from amongst the Heads.

8.15 Senate Long-range Planning Committee: includes one (1) faculty member elected from the full-time faculty of the Federate and Affiliates.

8.16 Human Research Ethics Committee: includes one (1) faculty member from the Federate and Affiliates. Three (3) year renewable term.

8.17 University of Waterloo Board of Governors. Pensions and Benefits Committee: includes one (1) non-voting representative from the Federate and Affiliates.

8.18 Senate Graduate Council: includes one (1) representative from the Federate and Affiliates. Two (2) year term.
