One of the most important goals and challenges of higher education is developing students' abilities to integrate their learning--over time, across courses, and between academic, workplace, and community life. The undergraduate experience is often viewed by students as a fragmented landscape of requirements that they can "check off" as they move through their programs. Seldom are students encouraged to "make connections" between the learning that occurs in all aspects of their academic and personal lives. Yet we want students to find ways to put the pieces together and develop habits of mind that will prepare them to make informed judgments in the conduct of personal, professional, and civic life. Electronic Portfolios are important tools in this process as they provide a space for students to reflect on and create digital portraits of their evolving identities as learners. Beyond promoting a more holistic approach to learning, ePortfolios can also be a good "measure" of how and where students are developing competencies in a number of areas.
Join us at St. Jerome's University from July 7 th to July 8 th to share your ePortfolio knowledge, experiences and insights. Submission of proposals for individual or team presentations, roundtables, workshops and posters/displays are all welcome. The main themes at this conference will consist of:
