2010-2011 CRC Research Grant Applications

The St. Jerome's Centre for Responsible Citizenship (CRC) is pleased to announce that proposals are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 CRC Research Grant. This grant is intended to support SJU faculty in developing innovative research and scholarship in the areas of community development, public life, public policy, Canadian identity, and other topics that address responsible citizenship. Proposals that include collaboration with local and/or regional organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, are especially welcomed.

Grant proposals of up to $5,000 may be submitted, although the exact amount of the grant has yet to be determined. Any funds awarded must be used during the fiscal year May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011.

Proposals should include (a) a narrative description of the project, not to exceed two pages, detailing how the project addresses issues relating to responsible citizenship, and (b) a budget that corresponds to anticipated expenses described in the narrative description of the project.

The deadline for submission is February 12, 2010. Please submit proposals to Christine Schwendinger in the Dean's Office.

Following SJU's Research Policy in the SJU Handbook (Section VI:7, Faculty Research Policy, Item 1), all CRC Research Grants must comply with the ethical guidelines established by the University of Waterloo. All proposals shall be sent to external assessors with expertise in the proposal's fields. The (Acting) Director of CRC will also be asked for an assessment of how the proposed project fits within the Centre's mandate. The Committee on Research and Scholarship shall determine, based on the external assessor's report, the CRC Director's assessment, and the Committee's judgment, which proposal(s) receive funding and the amount awarded. Eligible projects shall be those
defined by the heading 'Scholarship' in the SJU Handbook (Section VI:6, Faculty Employment Policy, Item 2.6.2).

Please contact Scott Kline ( x28289) for more information.
