St. Jerome's University is proud to offer several series of talks that are open to all. Generally, these are held at St. Jerome's but not always. Take a look at the schedules for each to be sure you know when and where a talk is being held.
Below is a list of the various series with a brief description.
This series explores Catholicism in all aspects of the world and life we are in. Each year offers an overarching theme that guides the talks. Each preseneter is renowned in the subject and presents matter that enlightens our perspective.
The Reading Seriesbrings cutting-edge Canadian writers to St. Jerome's. Each year we strive to offer a range in our slate of visiting writers: well-established and up-and-coming, from the local area and from sea to sea, working in verse and prose and beyond. These readings are special opportunities to get inside the book -- to hear writers read their own words, and speak about their own writing.
The Bridge Lecture series aims to overcome the gap between Mathematics and the Arts. It seeks to explore the connections between Math and the deeper questions asked in the Arts, questions about the nature of reality, the order of the universe, and the purpose of life. It also highlights what Mathematics can contribute to the exploration of these themes by other scholars. Each of the series' public lectures will be delivered jointly by a mathematician and a non-mathematician.
